Step 1: Complete an undergraduate degree program

In order to be eligible for medical school, one must complete a four year undergraduate program at the university. However, aspiring doctors do not have to major in anything specific. In order for someone to follow the “pre-med” path, a person has to make sure they take the necessary courses that medical school requires - these courses include physics, biology, genetics, anatomy, etc. Because of these requirements, most pre-med majors are biology and chemistry majors due to the overlapping of courses that apply to both their undergraduate degree and medical school. However, if a person really wanted to, they could major in English or philosophy they could and still apply to medical school. In fact with a major like that they will be sure to standout from the crowd!
